Know Before You Go...®

Paraiso Azul is a comfortable, family-friendly villa perfect for large groups. Its huge deck, living room, and kitchen are well designed for parties and gatherings of all types. Each bedroom has exterior access, so everyone can relax individually or together. Two are upstairs and three are downstairs, plus each has an ensuite bathroom. The villa is in a peaceful, quiet location on Rendezvous Bay, but Cruz Bay’s activities are nearby too. This home is a great choice for families and couples alike.

Unobstructed views of Rendezvous Bay and the south coast of St. John

Paraiso Azul is a two-story rental elevated on the hillside above Rendezvous Bay. Panoramic ocean views, vibrant interiors, and original artwork by Peter Max combine with the Caribbean’s natural beauty to create a picturesque vacation rental.

The villa’s pool is centrally located between the Great House and the upper level bedrooms. The coral stone deck surrounds the pool, and Paraiso Azul’s exterior enjoys gorgeous sunset views over Rendezvous Bay. Loungers line the front of the deck, and a nearby gazebo shades the al fresco dining table. Sliding glass doors open to the villa’s Great Room on the upper level. A set of exterior stairs leads down to the lower level deck, which opens to three of the five bedrooms.

Paraiso Azul’s Great Room holds the living, dining and kitchen areas as well as a powder room. Towering cathedral ceilings, travertine tile floors, and colorful decor add an airy quality to the space. The living area’s cushioned sectional and armchairs face the flatscreen satellite TV, stereo system, and a large coffee table. Glass doors and sunburst windows frame the sea, and the dining room and kitchen sit adjacent. The dining table seats eight guests next to the pool, and the kitchen has additional dining along the breakfast bar. Granite countertops and standard appliances wrap around the kitchen. The two upper level bedrooms are just off the pool deck and have king beds. One of the suites has an exterior shower and a small private sundeck. On the lower level, there are three king suites. All five bedrooms have tiled baths and showers, air-conditioning, flatscreen satellite TVs, and an ironing board and iron. Each suite has exterior access only.

Paraiso Azul is a 7-10 minute drive from Cruz Bay’s restaurants, shops, and activities. Rendezvous Bay is home to several beaches, coves, and hiking trails, as well.

Paraiso Azul, St. John villa review

We had a 60th Birthday celebration at Paraiso Azul with 9 women who are lifetime friends. We absolutely loved this Villa! Amazing location, great space to gather, beautifully decorated, stunning views, comfortable beds. Enough space to be together and enjoy the pool, hot tub, meals together, games etc., yet privacy if you wanted to go relax and read a book. Easy access to everything we wanted to do.
You won’t be disappointed if you book this Villa!!!!

Jean was great to work with and very responsive when we had questions. I would recommend her to anyone that is looking for some assistance booking a Villa. She was great!

Paraiso Azul, St. John villa review

Trip of a lifetime——- Caribe Villa is top notch. The view is out of this world and we saw a beautiful rainbow daily! The house has recently been updated and everything appears brand new. The kitchen is well stocked - all appliances are new. There is a second (full) fridge and freezer outside which was an added bonus for stocking up. The bedrooms are huge - decorated beautifully. The layout of the house is absolutely perfect for entertaining. We will definitely be back!

Wheretostay and Shawna made the planning experience seamless. From the travel logistics (taxi, ferry, rental cars) to the provisioning of food, to ensuring we were properly updated regarding the covid situation/required testing——Shawna did all of the heavy lifting for us and the provided itinerary was flawless. Shawna was also extremely quick to reply to any and all questions. WheretoStay absolutely took the stress of planning off of us, so we could just sit back and enjoy the trip of a lifetime.

Paraiso Azul, St. John villa review

This villa worked out perfectly for our group of 10! The view was breathtaking and visible from each bedroom. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were spacious and the kitchen was well-equipped. Beverage storage was our only issue but admittedly we had a lot to store. Two coolers were available and a freezer chest were you could store bags of ice, so that helped a lot. Note that beaches do not allow bottles so purchase cans if your intent is to pack a cooler.
WhereToStay staff was great - very thorough and timely communication during the booking process and in advance of our flights. Our greeter worked hard to get the villa turned around quickly for our arrival and explained all we needed to know. Ask her for taxi referral and someone familiar with driving up that hill.
We would definitely stay at the Caribe again!

WhereToStay was Great! Very impressed with the level of detail in their communication and the timeliness in their responses to our questions.
Kristen our greeter was great too. She worked hard to get the villa ready for us and followed up with a problem we had with the refrigerator ice block. There was a maintenance problem with the hot water heater and the serviceman worked until 9 pm on a Friday night with no complaint.

Caribe Villa offers exquisite views with charming accommodations

Paraiso Azul, St. John villa review

I found Caribe Villa to have lovely decorative touches above and beyond those found in most rental homes.  The owner’s brilliantly colored artwork added to the Caribbean feel and cheerful ambiance one experiences while relaxing in Caribe Villa.

The layout was open and inviting, providing the perfect balance for those in your group who prefer socializing and those seeking privacy.  A refreshing pool and hammock were there for the few hours between returning from a day of snorkeling or sightseeing and the start of the evening nightlife.

The villa also included fully stocked kitchens (two) with spices and other staples guests might need.

Some tips:  Sunscreen application as early as 8:00 am; Four-wheel drive rental car for the driveway and roads around the island; unfinished liquors are left in the kitchen for future guests to enjoy - also sunscreens and bug sprays; Cinnamon Bay for waves, Haulover Bay for the best snorkeling; The Lime Inn and La Tapa were favorites for dinner.

It was, in short, paradise!

Perfect house!!!

Paraiso Azul, St. John villa review

The house was amazing - plenty of space for 11 people to spread out and not feel crowded at any moment. All bedrooms had sliding glass doors for a beautiful view. It was clean and had all the amenities we needed. The outdoor shower was a bonus that the others envied!

Only one complaint - no working generator!!!!! Everyone we spoke to said, “isn’t there a generator?” - my niece (who lives in St. Thomas), 2 taxi drivers, other people we met, etc. Knowing this is a sporadic, regular problem on the island, how can you possibly not replace the broken one on the property? We spent at least 36 hours without showering and being clean - had to fill up to toilets to flush, couldn’t cook, needed to buy water to brush our teeth - you get the picture. It ruined the trip for several guests and they probably will never return to St. John.

On the flip side, Jared, did what he could to help but one small generator for the refrigerators just didn’t cut it. I give him credit for stopping by several times trying to help and always being prompt in returning my text messages. He was kind and courteous at all times. But this sounds like a problem created by the owner. And it was gracious of him to comp us dinner and drinks at The Windmill.

My review would have been 5 stars without this issue. And any other person would have rated it even lower.

Where to Stay did a wonderful job. Jean and Sharon were quick to answer any and all questions I had - very polite, efficient, and helpful throughout the months long process. They prepared us with several bits of information to help us enjoy our stay!

Beautiful views, charming rooms, Peter Max art everywhere!

Paraiso Azul, St. John villa review

All five bedrooms have a full bath (plus there is a half bath off the living room).  All bedrooms are basically equal in size and charm.  The deck is huge - and provides a beautiful view of Rendevous Bay (and St. Croix on a clear day).

The house is very clean, very charming - I would highly recommend it.  The layout is great, so the house feels manageable even though it is so large. Peter Max (does or did, not quite sure) owns the house and his art is everywhere.
