Carolina Villa is perfect for any traveler who loves ocean views and lots of privacy. The home is comfortably furnished and includes three queen suites with private bathrooms. The large deck and infinity pool provide tons of space to lounge and dine al fresco. The villa feels secluded, but it’s only a short drive from Coral Bay’s shopping, dining, and nightlife. Cruz Bay’s shops and restaurants are only 20 minutes from the villa, and the north shore beaches are also nearby. Carolina Villa is a great place to enjoy all that St. John has to offer, and is an ideal choice for couples or families with older children.

Beautiful views! Great for 2 couples or a family!

Carolina Villa is nestled in the Virgin Islands National Park mountainside above Coral Bay. The villa’s three bedrooms, gorgeous views, and warm interiors make this the perfect vacation rental for a couples’ getaway.

The expansive sundeck offers panoramic 270º views of the sea and the nearby islands. Palm trees rustle in the island breeze, and wicker and wrought iron furnishings sit along the deck. An infinity-edge pool perches at the edge of the deck with lounging mats float on top of the water. There are loungers and armchairs around the deck, and an outdoor dining table and barbecue grill beneath the veranda.

Carolina Villa’s charming interiors are elegantly styled with plush Tommy Bahama furniture, cathedral ceilings, arched breezeways, Mexican tile floors, and mahogany French doors. WiFi and ceiling fans run throughout the villa, and a security safe and electronic gate add peace of mind. The living area’s entertainment system features a stereo system, a docking station, a DVD player, and cable TV. A washing machine, dryer, and answering machine are also available. The gourmet kitchen offers stainless steel appliances including a Jenn Air gas range, a large refrigerator with an ice maker, a convection oven, and a dishwasher. The kitchen also has a blender, toaster, and a center island with a bar sink.

Each of the villa’s bedrooms have air-conditioning, ceiling fans, queen beds, and ensuite bathrooms. The bedrooms’ screened doors open to the pool deck, and the bathrooms have double vanities, large closets/wardrobes, and open-air stone showers. The master suites are located on opposite sides of the Great Room for complete privacy, and all of the bedroom windows are screened. An internal staircase leads down to the third bedroom, which also has a private sundeck and a full bathroom with a stone shower. There is an extra daybed available, as well.

Carolina Villa is five minutes away from Coral Bay’s beach and restaurants. North Shore beaches, SNUBA excursions, and the Virgin Islands National Park are less than a ten-minute drive from the villa.

Carolina Villa, St. John villa review

My husband and I had a wonderful time in St. John and chose to stay in Villa Carolina for our honeymoon. Villa Carolina is absolutely gorgeous. It is well appointed, comfortable and secluded. I loved staying in Coral Bay, you’re close to beautiful beaches (Trunk Bay was my fav), fabulous restaurants (Rhumb Lines) and an awesome market (Calabash). Whether you choose to venture out and explore or stay in and enjoy the amenities, you won’t be disappointed.
My husband and I love to cook, and the villa is stocked with your basic oils and spices, as well as plenty of cookware and a grill. Our bedroom was comfortable and the bathroom felt like a spa! I would love to bring friends or family back to the villa to soak up the views and have another relaxing vacation.

Working with Betsy and WhereToStay.com was great. Betsy communicated quickly and thoroughly, and was able to answer any question or concern I had prior to the trip. She provided a great overview of the island complete with recommendations on where to eat, drink, shop and swim. She was right—once you’re on St. John, you won’t want to leave. No need to visit surrounding islands, St. John is perfect. I will absolutely use them again for future vacations!

Carolina Villa, St. John villa review

This is a beautiful villa with amazing views. It’s absolutely in the most perfect location for access to the North Shore Beaches. The villa’s bedrooms are large and comfortable with showers to die for. We’ve been to St John probably half a dozen times, and this villa by far is our favorite. Exceptional!

I can put this booking and all past experiences with Shawna into one word: superb. Her process, arrangements, follow up, and communication cannot be beat. Every April, there is no other travel contact we look to. WhereToStay is the best out there.

Carolina Villa, St. John villa review

Villa Carolina exceeded our wildest dreams! This was my 5th trip to St. John and I hope that we are always lucky enough to stay in this lovely villa. This trip included my husband and two adult sons in their early 20’s. Each day started with a lazy breakfast outside where we soaked up the breathtaking views. (We woke up some mornings just to catch the glorious sunrise - don’t miss this opportunity! ) The convenient location allowed us to skip to any beach with ease to snorkel and play in the sun. Of course, the home is equipped with everything you need for the beach - chairs, coolers, and more. Late afternoons included a dip in the pool, a few cocktails and some music. We dined-in half of the time and loved cooking in the gourmet kitchen while the warm island breezes flowed through the home. The bedrooms are private and air-conditioned. And the outdoor showers were a huge hit for us all. We also enjoyed the spacious and well manicured property. Many homes are built into the side of a steep hill but the Villa Carolina property was vast in comparison with many lovely blooms on our May visit.
Sharon, the owner, was phenomenal. Her excitement for our trip was genuine from the start. She responded promptly to questions and had valuable insight into the island. We were delighted with our stay and hope to return soon.

Shawna@WhereToStay.com was delightful, prompt with responses, knowledgeable about the island and shared in our excitement about the trip.

Carolina Villa, St. John villa review

Carolina Villa was the perfect villa for this couple from North Carolina! The online photos just do not do it justice. Once you see this beautiful hillside villa and take in the most relaxing and gorgeous “million dollar views”, it will take your breath away!

I am such a photography buff that I ended up taking over 900 photos of the villa with its spectacular views to the east of the Virgin Gorda, Tortola, Hurricane Hole and East End. The postcard views of Coral Bay from the pool deck overlooking the large, infinity-style pool were unbelievable!

Carolina Villa was beautifully decorated with very comfortable furnishings. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we would need for the little cooking we did.

The private master bedroom suite offered refreshing linens and
air-conditioning after a relaxing day by the pool or beach. The spacious, stone outside shower with the conch soap holder was neat!

Some of our favorites were finding our groceries had been pre-stocked by Christy’s of St. John before we got there. Our flight had been delayed twice prior to our arrival to St. Thomas, so when we finally did grill the steaks and enjoy the bottle of wine on the pool deck, it was all worth it!

Our most favorite was lounging by the pool all day, working on our tans, relaxing, reading, listening to 101.9 R & B music and chilling! We kept saying “It just doesn’t get any better than this!”.

We are always in search of turquoise blue water, and found it at Vie’s Beach, Maho Bay, Hawksnest and, of course, Trunk Bay.  Trunk Bay is not to be missed!  The water is so clear, and the waves just gently flow onto the beach. With its soft-sand beach and crystal-clear water, it was tough leaving this one!  Boy, the photos I took here and at the overlook were “out of this world and picture postcard perfect!”  This was the prettiest beach we have ever seen!

Don’t miss some of the fine restaurants in the surrounding areas of Carolina Villa. We enjoyed cool breezes and drinks at Island Blues, good burgers at Skinny Legs, delicious creole dishes at Sweet Plantains, and Shipwreck Landing.

We enjoyed Shipwreck Landing so much, we ended up going back twice to enjoy the cool breezes. Also, our last evening meal of Nut-crusted chicken with the chutney mango sauce along with a Raspberry Mango Colada drink was a real treat! It was absolutely delicious, and the service was great!

Carolina Villa is a special place for us, and this was a much-needed vacation. Our thanks to Shawna Dunaway with WheretoStay.com for her assistance and attention to details that helped make this trip one we will always cherish!

When I got back to work, everyone was anxiously awaiting to hear all about our trip and see my fabulous photos. However, it does take time to get over 900 photos developed! When I did….wow! I knocked their socks off!

Thanks to the owners for allowing us to share a slice of their paradise, if only for a week!

Carolina Villa, St. John villa review

Villa Carolina is an outstanding vacation home. The views are extraordinary, and the furnishings are very comfortable and nicely appointed. Also, the kitchen is stocked very well for cooking and entertaining.

The bedrooms are beautifully decorated, and the linens are first class.

We loved Coral Bay and loved this villa. We have been vacationong in St. John for ten years, and this is our favorite home.

Carolina Villa boasts a million dollar view - it's ultimately serene.

Carolina Villa, St. John villa review

This villa has it all. Its incredible hillside location offers one of the most gorgeous views on the island. You can see for thirty miles east to Virgin Gorda (and many of the other British VIs - about 10) along the way.  Not to mention, the real Treasure Island (Norman Island), by Robert Louis Stevenson, is directly viewed from the pool deck. The sunrises are never to be forgotten.

Villa Caroilna is on the east end of St. John, overlooking Coral Bay, so it is extremely quiet and serene. Your only company at night are the sounds of frogs, and the chirping of bugs as the trees sway in the breeze. It’s unbelievably peaceful.

The lush landscaping adds to the beauty of an ultra chill poolside day as sailboats dance in the ocean in the distance. The breeze is always kicking, since the villa is about 1,200 feet up the hillside.

The interior is elegantly furnished, extremely comfortable and well appointed. Upstairs, two master suites open up to the pool deck with mahogany French doors. The showers are open-air and made of stone and coral, and have built-in conch shells for soap holders.  How cool!

An iron staircase leads downstairs to another room that can sleep up to four more. This room also has its own private deck and another full bath. This place has everything you need to feel right at home in the islands. You won’t want to leave.

I was back in the office on Monday dreaming of one more cold beer on that deck. Villa Carolina is nothing short of fantastic.

Can’t go wrong. Beautiful sunsets

Carolina Villa, St. John villa review

We had a nice time at the Villa Carolina. However, there were a few slight issues. It’s very difficult to turn the shower on and off you need to put all your body strength into it. Some of the lightbulbs were out so we had to take them from one place and put them into another. The kitchen had everything that you possibly could want and then some. The location was nice, however to drive into the town of Cruz Bay was about 25 minutes pitch black and very mountainous, curving roads Not something we want to do at night. We were able to drive seven minutes into Coral Bay where there are “restaurants “. Basically there is three or possibly four depending if they’re open very laid-back places to get food. That was the only downside of the villa. In the area villa was located it was far from restaurants that had good food. One place had oven night mike, live music that also served barbecue. It was fun.

Villa is near many beautiful beaches. Which is a plus.

Enjoy your trip! You can’t go wrong.

Villa Carolina Couldn't Be Much Finer!

Carolina Villa, St. John villa review

We just stayed at Carolina Villa for 10 days, and for the most part, it was a wonderful vacation in a wonderful home! The villa is beautiful and looks just like the photos on this site. The greeter was very nice, and the owners were very responsive to the few needs that we had. We were actually surprised how well this home looked after the hurricanes, given that some of the houses around it were practically destroyed. The showers give you that indoor/outdoor feel, which is actually quite nice… even if there is a creature or two peering down at you from above! The landscaping is beautiful and at night, the resident hermit crabs come out to visit! The third bedroom was actually a plus for us even though we were only two couples, because I was sick for part of our vacation and my husband was able to sleep in the third bedroom. Having a washer and dryer was very convenient, as were the beach bags, towels, umbrellas, and cooler.

I’m giving it 4 stars because of a few minor things: we thought the pots and pans provided for the kitchen could be updated, and that the tile floors could be cleaner. Also, be prepared to be up early as there are no blinds on the arched doorways in the bedrooms. While we understand this is because the view is so beautiful (and it is SO beautiful!), we felt it was a little less private having two couples there. Having blinds on the doors in the bedrooms would have made a huge difference for us. All in all, everything was great and we will be back!

Shawna is awesome! This is my second time booking with WhereToStay and Shawna, and I couldn’t ask for a better experience. Shawna is great with all of her communications and very responsive. This trip posed some great challenges with the hurricanes coming in and devastating this beautiful island. The house we originally booked had too much damage to be ready for our arrival, and Shawna got right on it. She sent me many options and, when I gave her the greater challenge of finding me a place in Coral Bay, the hardest hit part of the island, she came through with a beautiful property for us! Shawna is kind, considerate, customer focused, has great attention to detail, and easily accessible. You are lucky to have her on your team!
