Know Before You Go...®
Coyaba has a great pool area and views. It’s pretty private but is still only a short drive from the North Shore and even closer to restaurants and the grocery store.
Coyaba Villa sits on a large, private peninsula in Chocolate Hole, one of St. John’s most sought-after neighborhoods. This vacation rental is close to everything but still feels like paradise.
Four stone and coral sugar mill turrets add drama and ambiance to the home’s traditionally Caribbean architecture. The large, infinity-edged pool is surrounded by seating and lounging areas shaded with umbrellas and a trellis. Panoramic ocean views are visible from anywhere on the terrace, so the villa seems like its in the middle of the sea. Whimsical, hand carved elephants greet guests at the front entrance. The fully air-conditioned interior has high-end furnishings and ocean views from nearly every room. The living room has a TV, stereo system, and plush furnishings. The large kitchen has an open design, standard appliances, and expansive countertops. The breakfast bar and dining nook give guests plenty of space to spread out for meals. Two spacious, elegant suites are in the Bedroom Pod. Both have king beds, well-designed bath and dressing areas, and round showers accented by native stone walls.
Coyaba Villa is less than 5 minutes from nearby restaurants and the grocery store. North Shore Beaches are only 15 minutes away.

Beautiful Coyoba
Coyaba Villa, St. John villa review
Coyoba is a gorgeous, perfectly located villa overlooking Deaver Bay. It’s close enough to Cruz Bay for restaurants, shops, groceries, road to the beaches, but far enough away to be in a private, quiet location for maximum relaxation. The beautiful outdoor area faces Deaver Bay where you can see the surf crashing on the rocks below the infinity pool overhanging the hillside. Or you can relax in a chaise lounge and watch the boats pass by.
The inside areas are nicely appointed. Two bedroom pods detached from the main house have king size beds and private bathrooms with stone showers. They both have breathtaking water views. The main house has a large, fully equipped kitchen and dining area. There is a comfortable livingroom area for inside gatherings and a conveniently located half bath so that no one needs to use any of the private baths while gathering in the main house. There is another more intimate eating area on the way to the master bedroom along with an office/ seating area if anyone needs to check into work. WiFi access was excellent. The master bathroom is massive with yet another stone shower and a laundry area. You walk past a large closet area into a large, bright bedroom furnished in a style reminiscent of the British Colonial era. The huge four poster bed and beautifully carved furniture pieces lend a luxurious feeling that makes you feel pampered. The outside areas around the master bedroom have private seating areas surrounded by lush landscaping. Our group was delighted by the convenience comfort and beauty of this sprawling villa and it would be
at the top of the list for future visits to St. John.
Betsy was easy to work with and the local contact was fabulous at keeping us updated about power outtages and fixing other minor glitches. (The greeter forgot to leave keys when we arrived and one of the pod bedrooms didn’t have water when the power came back.)

We had an amazing time at Coyaba over Christmas 2022. Everything was better that we imagined. The views are the highlight, and the space is perfect and so comfortable! Would rent again and again and again.
Andrew and team were amazing and responsive to any and all needs we had. We felt so at ease knowing they were a call away.

Coyaba Villa, St. John villa review
Coyaba is a beautiful villa! The amenities were excellent and the pool was perfect for dipping after a fabulous day on the beach. The views were beautiful - some of the best I’ve seen since visiting the island. All the bedrooms were cozy and comfy, and AC throughout the house was a game changer! It made the mornings so much more enjoyable. Highly recommend this house and working with Betsy was a dream and eazy peazy! Can’t wait to return!
Excellent! Super helpful and she was so prompt with messages/questions/requests.

Almost perfect!!
Coyaba Villa, St. John villa review
The week started off a little rough with a broken air conditioning unit for the Master Bedroom portion of the main house. Once that was repaired, everything else was perfect. From the second you pull onto the driveway, the views hit you. Whether it’s the house, the Caribbean, the mountains. They are all spectacular. The house itself had everything anyone would need (from the kitchen, to the great room to the bathrooms). The pool deck had everything (plenty of seating, pool floats, beach chairs and a cooler). And the view - WOW. Loved standing in the pool at the infinity edge, listening to the waves crashing below you and watch the world go by. There were a couple of days when an Iguana joined us. He just sat there on the edge of the pool and sunbathed. Obviously this was a regular occurrence because he was not bothered by us at all.
The house is very private. There are other houses around you but nothing right on top of you. You feel like you are at your own resort. The complex consists of 3 separate buildings - the main house has the kitchen, great room, a couple of separate sitting area’s, the Master bedroom and 1.5 bathrooms. The other 2 bedrooms are in separate pods and have their own fully stocked beautiful bathrooms. The only downfall to the pods are they do not have TV’s. Not a huge deal for us because our daughter’s used their laptops.
One other selling point are the circular, stone showers. Just beautiful.
Will definitely return.
Betsy and the entire Where to Stay Team were all great to deal with. From the Taxi service at the airport to the greeter at the dock on St. John who also happens to be your tour guide to your house and walks you through the house. All top notch.

My family and friends rented this villa the week of July 9, 2022. This place has the most amazing views and the house we perfect for all of us. I would definitely rent it again.
Shawna is amazing. We have worked with her in the past and she is great. I will work with her in the future for my next Villa trip. Thank you Shawna for always being so helpful.

Relaxing in Cruz Bay
Coyaba Villa, St. John villa review
Our stay in Coyoba Villa was ideal for our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 adult children). There were beautiful views from everywhere. A equipped kitchen and multiple dining spaces for when we are at home. We really enjoyed the Infiniti pool and even managed to find a few shady places outside when the UV Index was high. The en-suite sleeping areas had similar features (such a cool stone shower) so there was no arguments who had the better rooms! The beds and linens were so comfortable!
We had a few maintenance issues during the week but they were quickly resolved. The communication with the staff was fantastic from the moment we inquired about renting. It was a fabulous vacation for our first time on STJ.
Betsy and the rest of the staff at WhereToStay was fantastic from beginning to end.

Everything was perfect!! Only one complaint. For $8,000 a week, we would have really liked to have comfortable beds with suitable pillows.
Other than that, lovely!! Beautiful view, lovely home, good location…

What a beautiful home!
Coyaba Villa, St. John villa review
There were 4 of us staying at this villa and we were blown away with the how beautiful it was. The architecture in this home is just gorgeous. The uniqueness of the bedroom pods was something we have never encountered before. The infinity pool was amazing. We also liked where it was located, as it was not super close to other villas and private. We would definitely stay here again should we ever get a chance to return.
The booking process was so easy and the concierge staff, Betsy, Sharon and even the villa local managers, were so pleasant to deal with. I would like to send an extra thank you to Betsy for all her help and feedback for this trip. We would definitely use Where to Stay again for any of their villas that are listed. Thank you Where To Stay!!

Beautiful home
Coyaba Villa, St. John villa review
We spent more time at this villa than any other we’ve stayed at, because of the outstanding pool area, landscape and ocean views. The only drawback was the guest bedrooms were not connected to the main house. That necessitated opening and closing doors. We couldn’t get the mosquitoes out of the bedroom as a result. Annoying, but we dealt with it by keeping the fans on high. The owners suite, if available, would have made this a non-issue, since their bedroom is part of the main living area.
We’ve worked with Shawna for almost ten years. Tremendous support. Great service.

Awesome view but villa needs TLC
Coyaba Villa, St. John villa review
View was absolutely awesome! Separate bedroom pods were great. Villa needed some TLC. Kitchen lacked as there were no baking dishes at all. The hood above the stove was dripping water. Need additional beach chairs and the ice chest handle was broken. It would also be nice to have updated beach towels as many were fringed and had holes. We were very impressed with management as twice we had to call and our issues were immediately resolved. We would definitely stay at Coyaba again as it fit our family of six perfectly, but would love to see these issues taken care of.
Perfect!

Great house, fabulous sunsets from pool
Coyaba Villa, St. John villa review
I would like to give this house 5 stars, but I can’t. It was a great house, but two of the three bedrooms had a moldy smell and the house flooded during a rainstorm, resulting in water in each bedroom and the master bath. I had to wade through water to dry out my luggage. To our relief, the property managers were quick to respond and dried it up quickly so we could get on with our day.
The house is in a great location, and it’s a nice size for accommodating a family. The furnishings were good and there were plenty of towels.
Our booking experience was excellent! Shawna was wonderful and super easy to work with! We highly recommend WhereToStay!
WhereToStay.com’s Response:
This, unfortunately, was an isolated incident during a rainstorm after hurricane’s Irma/Maria when there was no vegetation to soak up the water from the hills.

Tired property
Coyaba Villa, St. John villa review
From the outside this villa is lovely but unfortunately the inside has been neglected.
Granted we arrived in some heavy rains but walking into leaking roofs, and doorways was unsettling. The gentleman (Bernard) who escorted us from the car rental to the property was gracious and stayed to help mop the floors and lay out rubber mats but every time it rained that week we were cleaning up. Wet tile floors are dangerous.
The air conditioning problem in one of the pods, as well as the WI-FI was remedied the following day. We discovered after Bernard left that the front door is not secured and has been in this state for ‘a few years’. Reasoning stated that it’s from Germany and they’ve been having trouble fixing it. Guessing that’s why he took us in through the kitchen sliders. Main house/bedroom could not be locked.
The kitchen is well equipped and the welcome food was thoughtful and appreciated.
Plenty of beach/bath towels, chairs and coolers. We’d like to suggest new mattresses, pillows & linens considering the $$$ nightly rate.
Dear owners:
Please consider some of our suggestions to improve your property especially the front door and water leaks.
Shawna and her team at WhereToStay were responsive and a pleasure to work with.
