Things are looking up on St. Lucia since Hurricane Thomas swept across the island on Oct. 30.
Both airports are open for business, the main bridges that were washed out by the floods have been repaired, electricity has been restored and most resorts are welcoming guests again.
Close to two-thirds of St. Lucia’s attractions have reopened, including Rain Forest Sky Rides, Dolphin Watch, St. Lucia Ziplining, Reduit Beach and catamaran boat rides in Marigot Bay.
The drive-in volcano and Sulphur Springs mineral baths are scheduled to open this weekend.
However, Soufriere, the hardest-hit area, will require months of reconstruction, according to Prime Minister Stephenson King.
Some secondary roads remain blocked, and the island’s banana crop was wiped out.
Cruise lines, which resumed calls on Nov. 7, donated supplies in the wake of the storm.
