Eco Serendib Villa on St. John has partnered with the Virgin Islands National Park on a Beach Restoration Project to conserve the island’s beaches from erosion. Eco Serendib Villa and Spa is funding the project in order to reintroduce indigenous trees and shrubs to the area which will help control erosion and reduce carbon emissions. According to Gary Ray, restoration ecologist and proprietor of the eco-consulting firm Virgin Forest Restorations, actual planting will begin this spring at Maho Beach. Future plantings will will take place at Cinnamon Bay, Trunk Bay, Hawksnest Saltpond and Little Lameshur beaches.
