Le Grand Jardin on the Cote d’Azur is a remarkable sanctuary, embodying eco-friendliness, historical significance, and sensory delight. Nestled on the island of Sainte Marguerite, it is the only private property there and boasts a design that engages all senses with its fragrant citrus trees, serene natural pools, and expansive 14,000m² botanical garden perfect for leisurely strolls.
The estate is a 13th-century walled property accessible by boat, offering an exclusive retreat steeped in history. Sainte Marguerite has attracted the world’s elite for centuries, with notable owners like Louis XIV and the 15th-century Dukes of Guise. The island is also famously associated with the Man in the Iron Mask, believed to be the brother of Louis XIV, who was purportedly imprisoned in its fortress. Adding to its legendary status, it is said that Napoleon once let his horses graze in the garden while cannonballs were readied nearby to defend against passing ships.
The property spans three and a half acres and includes 12 bedrooms distributed across six buildings: the Governor’s House, three cottages, a guest house, and the old fortress tower, making it a unique blend of luxury and history.
