Slice of Heaven
Galley Bay Heights Villa - #035, Antigua villa review
My wife and I love #35 Galley Bay Heights, have stayed there twice and will return again. The house sits 40 feet above Deep Bay and has a magnificent 180 degree view of the Caribbean. We never wanted to leave the house and so cooked in every meal. The only negative is that if you did want to eat out, we didn’t, your choices would be to walk about 5 minutes (drive 1 minute) to the very expensive Galley Bay Resort, drive 15 or 20 minutes to St. John’s or drive 25 minutes to Jolly Harbor. The house is gorgeous with a beautiful pool. Skep, the house manager, is wonderful to work with and will make sure your vacation is special.
Betsy was on top of every detail. I sent her quite a few questions that she made sure were answered within the day. I wouldn’t hesitate to use WhereToStay.com

Your very own bit of paradise
Galley Bay Heights Villa - #035, Antigua villa review
If you think the photos look idyllic, think again. This villa has it all…..
We’ve been to Antigua many times but this stay surpassed all expectations.
Firstly, the pre-arrival instructions and clarity of communication from Betsy along the way were first class - thank you!
The location of the villa within a gated community and then again on it’s own gated plot of three villas, gives a sense of security and exclusiveness.
On arrival you are greeted by “Skep”, a local and very knowledgeable assistant, come, handyman, come general good bloke. Listen to what he says and you’ll gain some very valuable insights into what’s going on and where to go.
The villa itself was scrupulously clean and had everything in it you’ll ever need. The bi-fold doors that completely open up the living space, give the open plan, open air experience that has more space than you’ll ever need.
The views from the balconies defy belief. Whether it be the pelicans flying within feet of the balcony or the cacophony of sound as the sun sets, you just know you are somewhere very special.
Most couples choose the “Ocean view” bedroom. Everything works and I defy you to not be amazed by either the star filled night sky or the view across Deep Bay as the cruise ships sail by. Every morning a little yellow bird arrives and pecks on the window to say hello!
Hiring a car is an essential and we found “Pete’s Taxis” to offer a fantastic service, providing a suitable car which worked just fine. Drive like a local would be my advice. That is be courteous, let others go first to avoid traffic backing up and above all, avoid the pot holes…....
The Epicurean supermarket has everything you could wish for. Much nearer is the supermarket at Perry Bay and has all the basics if not the fancy stuff.
All in all, the villa, it’s location, the island and it’s people will all combine to give you a dream holiday. Go for it! Book via Betsy at wheretostay.com and you’ll have the support of her team in giving you your very own bit of paradise.
Absolutely fabulous.

A slice of heaven
Galley Bay Heights Villa - #035, Antigua villa review
Galley Bay Heights Villa #35 is absolutely stunning. The views from the open floor plan are magnificent. The dazzlingly beautiful Deep Bay is so close, you can continuously hear the waves crashing on the rocky shore. It’s only a couple of hundred yards to Galley Bay Beach. You can walk, but we drove 2 minutes instead of carrying the beach chairs and cooler. We ate inside the villa every night but one, because we didn’t want to leave our palace.
Working with Shawna and WhereToStay was a flawless experience. Easy!

Galley Bay Heights Villa in November
Galley Bay Heights Villa - #035, Antigua villa review
We stayed at Galley Bay Heights #035 in November and had a great time. First off, I would suggest signing up for cell phone travel service as soon as you land at the airport. You WILL NOT find the villa without GPS. Once we arrived at the villa, Skep met with us and made sure we were all set up. He checked in with us daily to make sure everything was okay and we didn’t need anything. We had the villa stocked with food and drinks before we arrived, so we avoided the supermarket trip on our first day. The villa was beautiful, big, and (most importantly) private. The view from the villa was perfect, we watched boats come and go from the harbor every day. Other than a couple of visits to the local beaches and a few dinners in town, we stayed at the villa. The barbecue area was great, so we made most of our dinners out there. With a washer and dryer available, we only had to pack half the clothes we normally would. The maid came once in the middle of our trip, which was perfect because we don’t like being bothered every day. The villa is also located in a private, gated community with 24/7 security. We would definitely consider booking this villa again in the future.
Andrew was very helpful throughout the whole process. He had everything set up for us and answered any questions we had. We have already begun looking at the WhereToStay website for our next vacation.

Villa with a View
Galley Bay Heights Villa - #035, Antigua villa review
My husband and I spent 2 weeks looking out over the ocean watching cruise ships, catamarans, and sailboats passing by. It was so relaxing, which was exactly what we came for. The villa was spacious and had everything we needed. Skip, the manager, was right there to answer any questions or solve any problems. The pool was refreshing and we used it every day. The beautiful beach was only a 5-minute walk away and the smaller beach right next to it was perfect for a little snorkeling, which my husband loves to do.
The only con is that you have to drive a ways to go to a restaurant.
Working with WhereToStay was no problem!

Beautiful View
Galley Bay Heights Villa - #035, Antigua villa review
Our villa at Galley Bay Heights was wonderful, comfortable, well-designed and fully equipped with all the modern conveniences. The view is spectacular and readily available from every room. The well-maintained pool area was a daily treat with its 180 degree views of the Caribbean Sea. Skip, the villa manager, was terrific and very attentive when we had a question or needed something. We enjoyed exploring the different beaches on the island, and once we figured out the roads nothing was further than an hour’s drive. All in all, our stay was quite enjoyable!
Andrew and WhereToStay were wonderful to work with, and we would use their services again. Many thanks!

Glorious Galley Bay Heights
Galley Bay Heights Villa - #035, Antigua villa review
We just returned from a week’s stay in Antigua. Our villa was located in Galley Bay Heights, a gated community located a short walk from Galley Bay Resort. The property was in excellent condition and maintained by “Skep,” the site supervisor who lives next door. On the few occasions we needed something, Skep quickly responded to our request. Every room in the villa has a gorgeous view. We loved relaxing on the spacious deck and swimming in the infinity pool. The kitchen is stocked with cookware, utensils, oven, refrigerator and dishwasher if you choose to dine-in. We ate breakfast and lunch at the villa and went to a fabulous restaurant every night. This villa is cliffside, so you’ll need to walk up several stone paved steps to reach your doorstep—but it’s definitely worth the effort. The location is ideal—We traveled all over the island, and Galley Bay is the nicest beach! All the beaches on Antigua are open to the public, so you can trek over to Galley Bay Resort and enjoy the spectacular view. You can also pay to dine at their restaurants. Prior to our trip, I researched excursions and learned about Captain Sean. We spotted him on the beach and arranged a semi-private sail/snorkel, the best way to enjoy Cades Reef.
Shawna was outstanding!! She was patient, informative and very responsive. Shawna helped us with our rental car, restaurant reservations, stocking our refrigerator so food was waiting for us when we arrived and a booking with Stingray City. It’s a pleasure to work with someone who is knowledgeable and conscientious—it makes booking a trip online a rewarding experience.
